Two reasons why gaming on a PC is better than on a games console

The age-old debate of PC vs game consoles has raged for what feels like an eternity. For the more casual gamer, it seems that the game console remains number one. Whether it’s PlayStation, Xbox, or something else, however, is a different debate entirely. But for the more ardent gamers out there, those who like to play competitively, be it in Esports competitions or simply testing themselves online against the best players in the world, they will tell you that there is only one machine for the job.

These days, it seems that there are a plethora of different game console manufacturers vying for your attention. If you’re an online poker enthusiast, you will know only too well the different companies trying to get your customers with offers and deals. Luckily, websites such as PokerNews compare the different poker bonuses available on the market, so you don’t have to search around. And if you’re on the hunt for a new games console, we will provide you with two reasons why you should be gaming on a PC instead, so you are also lucky!

1. Performance

First and foremost, the reason that competitive gamers choose to do their gaming on a PC is primarily down to performance. PCs tend to have better quality components than their game console counterparts, leading to better gameplay and more longevity from your machine.

As well as that, computers usually have much better graphics cards, leading to better visuals. Admittedly, NextGen consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have done their best to bridge that gap, but they still lag well behind their PC equivalents. For years, most games had a maximum rate of 60 frames per second. Any more than that would have caused older consoles to overheat and would have also imposed huge costs on the consoles manufacturers. Nowadays, the PS5 for example can handle up to 120 fps, but it still lags behind PCs somewhat, as they can comfortably handle well in excess of 140fps.

2. No online fees

One of the main complaints about game consoles is all the hidden fees you aren’t told of when you are first purchasing the device. Picture this, you’ve just bought your brand new Xbox Series X, and you’re loading up the newest edition of FIFA. Your excitement is through the roof, but wait, what’s this? Xbox Live subscription? All you want to do is play Ultimate Team with your friends, but without the subscription, that isn’t possible. The console itself was hardly cheap, and forking out another $60 is the last thing you want to do. The scenario is the same on the PlayStation as well as on the Nintendo Switch.

You won’t have any such issues with a PC. There are no hidden fees standing between you and online gameplay and while there are subscriptions you can opt into, such as EA play, you aren’t obliged to do so, and not subscribing won’t hinder you in any way.
