Top Tips for Playing Games on Your Phone This Summer

As the summer months approach, more and more people will be getting out and about. It’s no fun to stay indoors when that lovely sunshine is out there waiting to greet you. This means that there will be times when your only access to anything online will be that smartphone you have charged and ready to go. For gamers, that could be a good thing, but for your phone, not so much. Phones can quickly overheat in those swelteringly hot temperatures, and perhaps gamers have a few worries as well. If you are looking forward to getting out more but also playing a game or two while enjoying the best nature has to offer, here are some tips for playing those games on your phone this summer.

Choose Your Games Wisely

While you might enjoy a game of strategy, that can probably wait until you are back inside where there is air conditioning. Those games can take hours, if not days, to complete, especially if they are multiplayer games in an Alternate Reality. Perhaps you would do better to check out a few slot game reviews to see if any of your favorite online casinos have any new and interesting pokies.

The slot game reviews on the Jackpot Casino Games website will help you determine which games suit your playing style and which you might like to try but were never sure about. Read the reviews so that you aren’t likely to unnecessarily heat your phone playing a game you don’t enjoy. It is suggested, however, that if you are going to take any time clicking through to several reviews, you do so from your home PC, again, so as not to heat your phone unnecessarily.

Observe Critical Heat Warnings on Your Phone

When you are out there on your phone, be aware of the critical heat warnings your phone notifications will advise you on. That little pop-up usually at the top of your screen with notifications will give you a warning along with an internal temperature on most phones, so heed the warning. You don’t want to kill that expensive smartphone that is your only connection to the gaming world while out and about, do you?

Keep Your Phone Out of Direct Sunlight

When riding in your car, never place your phone on the front dashboard. You may not realize it, but the heat shining through the windscreen along with the heat rising from the engine can quickly bring your phone way beyond temperatures that are safe, even if you are not on it.

You are probably running the air in your vehicle, so perhaps you could find a spot to place it where it will be getting that cool air filtering into your vehicle. Also, you might want to invest in a mobile phone holder that attaches to the dashboard vents. That’s one way to keep it cool!

Clear Your Phone’s Ram Prior to Playing

Here’s a hack you might not be aware of. Before playing a game or being on your phone for more than just a couple of minutes browsing the web, take a few moments to clear the RAM. As your phone’s RAM fills up, it will begin sending bits of data around, trying to find clear memory to use.

That makes your phone work all the harder, and in just a matter of moments, you will see the temperature rise well beyond that critical point. In fact, this is a good habit to get into at any time of the year. Help your phone work efficiently for you by reducing the amount of work it has to do.

Reduce Brightness on Your Screen

We all know that light gives off heat, even LED lights to some extent, so why add that unnecessary heat when there is no reason to do so? Of course, you will need to find a place to view your phone’s screen out of the glare of bright sunlight, but you are probably doing that anyway! Who can see any artificial light at all when competing with all those natural lumens? If you still have issues when moving to shade, you can always invest in an anti-glare sunscreen that will help you see better without turning your phone’s brightness to its highest setting.

Avoid Cooling Apps

Here is something that should be a no-brainer, but you would be surprised at just how many cooling apps are downloaded from app stores daily. Bear in mind that running any app whatsoever uses RAM and other resources. Doesn’t that tell you that running apps will heat your phone? It should. So, if you want to play it cool, don’t try to be cool with the latest cooling apps. They are counterproductive at the very best.

Remove Bumper Casings

Here is something anyone who has a habit of dropping their phone should pay careful attention to! You’ve put that bumper housing on your phone to protect it from those ‘random’ drops and falls, but when running it in hot temperatures, those casings prevent airflow. Remember, the architecture of the phone was developed to allow for a cooling flow of air, and many of the leading trendy cases didn’t take that into design consideration. Even if your phone’s case is a fashion statement, you are unwilling to part with, at least remove it while using your phone for more than a few moments in the summer heat.

Turn Off Sensors While Playing

Here is something many of us do automatically to minimize data fees. However, you may not be aware of just how many resources are used as those sensors go to work trying to switch back and forth between Wi-Fi and mobile data connectivity. If you are like most savvy mobile phone users today, you probably have your phone set to connect automatically to a Wi-Fi source if available, but when you are truly mobile, is there any reason to do so?

Unless you are in a location where your phone can connect to a Wi-Fi network you are frequently near, your phone’s sensors will be working overtime to try to ‘save’ you from using unnecessary mobile data. Conversely, when in your yard at home, for example, turn off mobile data because you are most likely within reach of your Wi-Fi router. You can find instructions on how to turn them off on an android smartphone here.

Take Periodic Breaks to Allow for Cooling

This is one of the reasons why it is suggested that gamers avoid games that take long periods of time to complete. Even some of the most popular card games or other games of strategy like chess at online casinos can keep your phone working too hard and too long in the heat. Instead, look at those slot reviews to see which of those you might like to try for a spin or two. This will help you get in and out quickly so you can give your phone a break.

Whether talking on the phone, chatting, gaming or surfing the web, don’t stay on longer than perhaps ten minutes or so at a stretch if you are out in extremely hot weather. Give your phone frequent breaks so that it can continue serving you well. You don’t want to work it to the point of heat exhaustion, do you? Those breaks will enable it to work more efficiently for you and for a much longer time. Perhaps this is something you might like to address with your boss! Ask for extra breaks so that you can work longer and harder. (We don’t think they’ll fall for it, but it’s worth a try, isn’t it?)
