Mobile Gaming Genres to Explore

To people who enjoy gaming on consoles or a PC, the field of mobile gaming might be something that often goes unexplored and neglected. However, unlike those other platforms, even if you don’t personally engage with mobile gaming, you likely already have access to the platform itself, which makes trying it out a very easy prospect indeed. First things first, though, is to identify some areas that can showcase how mobile gaming is unique from what you might be used to.

The best way to do this would be through key genres that are more associated with smartphones over consoles and then delving into unique, exclusive experiences and titles that can show you what that genre has to offer.

Online Casinos

While online casinos might represent a type of the halfway point between video games in the way that you’re used to them and digitized versions of physical experiences, they still might be a good point of entry for someone who’s familiar with the games available and looking for their own foot in the door in regard to mobile gaming.

You might be familiar with some of these games through their presence in pubs and bars, such as slot games, for example. Classic slots are also available to play at online casinos, as are other experiences such as roulette, blackjack, and a myriad of slot alternatives that can provide an interesting twist on the classic formula, some of which can even bring them closer in line to traditional games through the presence of a narrative.

Puzzle Games

It can often feel as though puzzle games are a somewhat archaic concept in this domain. Puzzles now tend to be aspects of other games that are featured within other genres to varying degrees, and even here, some people who might not play those genres for that aspect could be frustrated at their presence. However, on the lower-key, more focused hardware presented to you by mobile gaming, puzzles can take center stage.

Certain puzzles are often reported as being beneficial for mental health, and so getting into games that are focused on this concept can entertain and engage you when you want them to while also potentially giving you the comfort that you’re taking care of yourself in a certain way. All that’s left is to choose the type of puzzle you want to play.

MMOs and MOBAs

Massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) and multiplayer online battle arenas (MOBAs) are genres that are also present on consoles and PCs, especially the latter, so you might already be familiar with them in some form.

However, the gameplay loop that is presented here might be more suited to the smaller, portable hardware than you might otherwise find. While MOBAs, in particular, can be very competitive, with a whole e-sports scene behind a lot of them, making a case for a lot of in-depth strategies, the basic loop might be simple enough to make the jump quite neatly – with a plethora of exclusive mobile titles for you to consider if you’re interested.
