The consoles on the market today are far more web-savvy than they were just a few years ago. It is possible for Gamers to stream the action on Twitch, join in massively multiplayer games, download new games with just the push of a button. They can also stream a game to a Mac or Windows computer. PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro are supported by both platforms. The Xbox One and Xbox One S currently work only on a local network and also Windows.
It is now possible to even leave your console at home because all you need is a screen and a controller, and that also goes for accessing a PlayCroco casino login.
Being able to play your video games on a computer makes life very comfortable; it means you can play on your PS4 when you are not at home on a laptop.  And, if you are at home, you can avoid arguments over who gets TV time, by enjoying an Xbox-powered session of Minecraft on your laptop while the kids enjoy watching their favorite program on the big screen.  Remember though, that you are streaming content from one device to another so it’s not possible to play one game on the laptop and another one on the console.
But even better is that you are able to not only use your computer but you can play your console video games on your tablet or smartphone. That means, where ever you go you can take your Xbox and PS4 games with you. The good news is that no matter what devices or hardware you have, the process of setting up is a fairly simple one.   Microsoft and Sony are constantly improving these tools so it will be even more straightforward as time goes on.
Streaming PlayStation 4 games
In terms of computers, the critical piece of software at the heart of the operation is Sony’s Remote Play application. You can download this for Windows and macOS. It is important to make sure that you have installed firmware 3.50 or after on your console. To do this you can go to Settings and see System Software Update.
Windows will need:
- Windows 8.1 or 10
- Intel Core i5-560M 2.67Ghz or quicker CPU
- 2GB or more of RAM
- 100MB available storage or more
macOS will need – minimum requirements:
- macOS High Sierra, Mojave or Catalina
- Having an Intel Core i5-520M 2.4GHz or faster CPU is specified
- 2GB or more of Ram
- 40MB of available storage or more
If when streaming, your device is not on your local network, it will be necessary for you to have good and adequate upload speeds on your home broadband.  Having a wired connection with upload speeds of 5Mb/s or even more is best.
For your console, you need to select your PS4 as your main device. You can do this by going into Settings and see Account Management and here activate it as your main PS4.  Then via Settings go into Remote Play Connection Settings and enable Remote Play.
The next step is to attach a PlayStation 4 DualShock controller to the computer desktop that you are streaming to by USB, after which you should install and run the Remote Play client application.  When you sign in with your PSN details, your PS4 will be detected automatically.   It will then be possible for you to control your console via the attached controller over the internet, no matter whether it is navigating menus or if you are playing via any of your installed games.
If you experience audio or video stuttering during the gameplay, you should try decreasing the resolution settings and this will likely reduce the pressure on the internet bandwidth. If necessary, it is possible to remotely turn off your PS4 through Windows or macOS apps.
With regard to streaming on your mobile, you will need to set up your PlayStation 4 in the same way as detailed previously. Following that, you’ll need the free PS4 Remote Plat app for Android or iOS. Once you have enabled the app you should follow the instructions given to access your PlayStation account and locate your console. Once you’ve done that you will be able to control your PS4 and all your games as though it were right in front of you.
To play on a mobile you will need to connect the DualShock controller to Bluetooth. With regard to an Android – from Settings go to Connected Devices – Pair new device – iOS – open Settings and then select Bluetooth. In order for your phone to detect it, you will need to put your DualShock controller into pairing mode – basically press down on the PS button and the Share button simultaneously to do this.
Streaming Xbox One Games
Remote streaming is also possible on an Xbox One console but to get it working on a Mac you will need a third-party app. The fact that Microsoft owns and develops both of these means that streaming between the two, an Xbox One and a Windows computer, is easy. It simply means signing into both of them using your Microsoft account.
With Windows 10 you will need the following:
- A 1.5GHz or quicker CPU
- 2GB or more of RAM
Optimally, get a wired internet connection to your Xbox One or Windows 10 computer although it is possible to use wireless connections too.
Firstly, prepare your Xbox. Go to Settings – then to Devices and Streaming and Device connections. Ensure that all the options on the next screen are enabled, meaning that remote connections from other devices and also game streaming to those same devices.
Then on Windows 10, from the Start menu, enable the Xbox Console Companion app and connect an Xbox One controller using a USB. You can use the same signing-in details that you use for your console or any of your other Microsoft devices. Then, select Connection.   Your Xbox One console should be detected automatically if it is on the same work and is on.
If you then click on Stream, the Xbox One presentation will be streamed to your Windows computer.  The attached controller can be used to operate it as usual. It is also possible to remotely turn off the console.
There is a big and important difference between the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.  The difference is that Sony’s console streams game over the web only if you have a good enough connection at both ends while Microsoft confines streaming to the local network.  Therefore, it is possible to play games upstairs on your laptop but not across town on your office computer.
Microsoft’s Project xCloud streaming service is yet to be launched and when it does the situation may change. At the current time it is still being tested and that includes testing for streaming to Android devices. Still, no word if that will include Apple devices.
Presently in order to stream Xbox One games to macOS or iOS, you need OneCast. There is an Android version being tested. You will also need macOS 10.11 E1 Capitan or newer to get it working.
Following the apps’ directions, you’ll be able to connect your Xbox on a local network or over the internet, remotely. Basically, by signing into your Microsoft account.  Via Bluetooth, you can use the Xbox controller or on a Mac, via a USB cable.  When using iPhones and iPads you have only on-screen controls unless your Xbox controller is in close proximity to the console. That means you could play on an iOS device while somebody else was watching TV.
