Season 8 in Apex Legends stands out from the previous series, and one of the most significant changes is solo queueing. Players can now show what they are capable of all by themselves. This may be especially tempting for those who don’t want to deal with unreliable allies that have little understanding of team play. But players should be aware of the differences between solo queues in Apex Legends and Duo or Trio.
You should develop a new tactic that will include both defensive and attacking strategies. For a better gaming experience, you may need to switch to a character that is as good for solo as for team play.
We decided to help you out by making up a tier list of the best Apex legends characters to rank up solo:
- S-tier: Octane, Pathfinder
- A-tier: Gibraltar, Horizon
- B-tier: Wraith, Bloodhound, Bangalore, Crypto
- С-tier: Revenant, Wattson, Lifeline, Caustic
- D-tier: Fuse, Mirage, Rampart, Loba
Heroes that deliver the best results in solo queue in S8 are at the top of the tier list. Particularly, we mean S and A-tiers. To help you reach Platinum or Diamond ranks on your own, we have developed our Apex ranked meta with a brief guide for the top-four Legends when playing solo.
S-tier: Octane
Octane opens up the list of the best champions for solo play because of his outstanding abilities. It’s a significant competitive advantage when you are among solo players against duos and trios.
For example, if you realize that your enemies are in a better position than you or you need to reach a high loot spot before others, you can use Stim. Although it costs 10% of your health, you can move 30% faster for the whole 6 seconds. Don’t worry about using it if your health is below 10% – you won’t get knocked down automatically.
Always strafe when escaping with Stim to avoid becoming an easy target. To span long distances and take a better position, you can use LaunchPad and make a huge leap. But be careful: you can become an easy target while you slowly slide down the air.
If your opponents have exhausted your health level, don’t rush to use all the meds. With a passive ability, Swift Mend, Octane restores health at a faster pace.
S-tier: Pathfinder
If you are on good terms with a sniper rifle, Pathfinder is a great choice for solo rank up in Apex Legends. It’s not hard for Pathfinder to take a position with the best visibility, and knock enemies down from far away, provided the player is on good terms with a sniper rifle. First, you can reveal where the next ring’s location will be. Use Insider Knowledge but be careful and find a safe spot as you will be vulnerable for 7 seconds.
When you know the location, find the ideal position and move there instantly with Zipline Gun. By the way, such a combo gives you a time advantage over enemies: Insider Knowledge speeds up Zipline Gun cooldown.
In case you just want to reach a particular place faster, you can deploy Grappling Hook. You will run at full blast. That is useful if you need to relocate fast or avoid an open field battle.
A-tier: Gibraltar
Gibraltar’s abilities give him a decent competitive advantage over other Apex Legends champions in 1vs1 encounters. Take passive Gun Shield as an example: when aiming down sights, the ability grants 50 additional armor. However, don’t use it when hiding: the orange shield isn’t the best camouflage. Moreover, he constantly takes 15% less damage without losing in speed, leaving him enough health to make the last shot.
While Gun Shield can be used when firing back, the more severe Dome of Protection can’t. It creates a shot-proof dome for 12 seconds to use the meds.
Gibraltar also has something to deal huge damage – Defensive Bombardment. Mark a position and call in a concentrated mortar strike there. But keep in mind that you can be damaged too.
A-tier: Horizon
Horizon is an amazing pick in Apex Legends if you have well-developed tactics skills and like encounters. The champion’s abilities allow you to both defend and attack. For example, Gravity Lift with reversed flow of gravity allows you to gain a higher ground or lift the foes in the air and boost them outwards where they existed. By the way, if you decide to fire back when in the Gravity Lift, you can easily target enemies: your accuracy remains the same.
Horizon can also damage many enemies at once, which is useful when you are stuck with a trio or duo. Use the ultimate ability, Black Hole, for instance, to summon all the opponents in a hole and throw a grenade there.
And, of course, Horizon outperforms other characters with better mobility. Spacewalk increases air control and reduces fall impacts. The ability’s effect is the most notable in the Olympus map – Split 2, Season 8.
Conclusion
Ranking up solo when you are playing against duos and trios can be quite a challenge. It requires you to develop the right tactics, choose a character wisely, and always be alert as there is no one to back you up.
Yet, there is a solution that players with different budgets can afford. You can always turn to online Apex Legends boosting services like OverBoostPro. You no longer have to face the struggle alone – a professional booster is always here to help you with rank, badges, and wins.
