For most World of Warcraft players, a new patch means exciting new content. For gold makers, however, this means new farming opportunities. What sort of opportunities? Well, buckle in because we’re going to discuss a bunch of them in this article. The tips and tricks we’re going to share with you here will be particularly valuable at the start of Shadowlands 9.1 but some of them should remain valuable throughout the lifecycle of the patch.
Also worth noting is that in certain instances you will need to have a bit of gold saved up to make some investments. If you don’t, you can buy WoW gold from LootWoWGold and use it to get the ball rolling. You know what they say about having to invest money in order to make money in real life. That concept definitely applies to WoW gold as well. With that out of the way, let’s start off with one of the best methods of making gold at the start of Shadowlands 9.1.
Crafted legendaries were one of the biggest features introduced in Shadowlands and have been in high demand since the very start of the expansion. There is a wide variety of crafted legendary items and multiple ranks for each of them. Originally, items were made upgradable up to rank 4 and now Shadowlands 9.1 is introducing two extra ones, bringing the new maximum rank up to 6.
Crafting and selling these items on the auction house should be a huge part of your money-making strategy in Shadowlands 9.1. Especially in the first few weeks of the patch. Given the amount of content added in 9.1, it’s to assume that most players will be more focused on checking out the new raid or working towards unlocking flying, as opposed to trying to craft the legendaries themselves, which is very time-consuming process. That means that demand for rank 5 and rank 6 legendaries will be through the roof while supply might be fairly limited. That’s where you come in.
In order to take full advantage of this in WoW Shadowlands 9.1, you will need at least two max level characters, though three or four would be even better. That’s because there are four professions that can craft base legendary items and, as I’m sure you already know, you can only have two main professions at any one time. The professions in question are Blacksmithing, Jewelcrafting, Leatherworking, and Tailoring.
The real challenge here comes from the fact that you need to max out a profession in order to unlock the ability to craft legendaries. Moreover, you will need to craft dozens upon dozens of items as you gradually work your way up through the various ranks. Of course, crafting so many items is not cheap and will require a lot of materials alongside Orboreal Shards. Just one of these shards will cost you around 100 gold depending on your reputation.
Again, it’s not a bad idea to buy WoW EU gold to make sure you have enough to cover these sorts of expenses. Once you’re able to start selling rank 5 and 6 legendaries on the auction house you’ll be absolutely swimming in gold, so this investment is definitely well worth it.
Stockpile Crafting Materials
This is somewhat related to the previous point as it’s also primarily connected to crafted legendaries. However, instead of going through the trouble of trying to craft rank 5 and 6 legendaries, which is indeed a huge commitment, you can simply invest in the base materials needed to create these items. Materials such as Enchanted Lightless Silk, Shadowghast Ingot, or Heavy Desolate Leather.
The great thing about the new crafted legendaries introduced in Shadowlands patch 9.1 is that they use the exact same materials we’ve been using since the start of the expansion. If you already have a nice stockpile of these materials in your bank hold onto it because the prices will surely go up significantly at the start of 9.1. If you don’t, now would be the perfect time to stock up because the prices are still very low on many servers.
In addition to the aforementioned legendaries, crafting materials will also be needed for toys, potions, and various other items coming with the patch. That will make the mats even more sought after than usual. Now, it’s worth noting that some of these materials are bound to be cheaper than others. Shrouded Cloth, for instance, is something everybody can get by simply killing mobs so you can either farm that by yourself by buying it cheap in bulk from the auction house. As for the other mats, we recommend picking up Mining and Skinning to be able to farm them yourself, but you should also keep an eye on the auction house and buy up the cheap stock whenever possible. You will be able to sell it later for big bucks.
Another profession that will come in handy here is Enchanting. In fact, this is arguably the most important one. Most of the crafted legendaries require either Enchanted Elethium Bars, Enchanted Heavy Callous Hides, or Enchanted Lightless Silk. Needless to say, the only way to create these is to take the base materials and combine them with Soul Dust through Enchanting. What this essentially means is that you can buy the base materials for cheap and then sell the enchanted versions back on the auction house for a tidy profit.
Mission Table Rewards
This method won’t bring you heaps of gold in Shadowlands 9.1 but it can provide you with a small steady income that requires very little effort. All you need to do is max out your Covenant followers and focus on sending them on missions that reward gold or valuable materials that can be sold on the auction house. The materials mentioned in the previous section often come as rewards from the mission table.
Other important items you’ll want to keep an eye on while sending followers on missions are Veiled Augment Runes. These runes are quite valuable, selling for 200-300 gold a piece on most servers, and you generally get several of them after successfully completing a mission. At the start of Shadowlands 9.1 Veiled Augment Runes are bound to be highly sought after by guilds rushing to be among the first to complete the new raid. As the result, their prices are guaranteed to rise significantly.
An important thing to keep in mind is that basing a gold-making strategy around mission table rewards is generally only worth it if you’re using multiple alts. While you can make hundreds of gold each day from mission table rewards, using several characters can net you thousands of gold on a daily basis. Granted, maxing out Covenant campaigns and followers on multiple characters does require a significant time investment. Once everything is set up, though, there’s barely any effort involved in sending followers on gold-making missions. There are even mission table add-ons that can make the process is easier.
Old World Items and Materials
Every major patch always brings with it lots of new players to World of Warcraft, as well as veteran players who took a break during the content draught. While most of these players will be focused on sinking their teeth into the new content, there’s also a portion of them that ends up delving into old-world content instead. Either for nostalgia’s sake or, in the case of new players, to see what they’ve been missing out on during all these years.
This increased in old-world content will result in a price increase for certain crafting materials, pets, or transmogs from previous expansions. If you’re someone who has plenty of experience running old raids and dungeons you may want to hold onto some of the stuff you gather along the way because it could fetch a pretty penny on the auction house.
With TBC Classic now live, there’s probably going to be a bigger interest than usual in Shadowlands for transmogs from The Burning Crusade era. Acquiring the original items in TBC Classic is quite challenging and time-consuming. Dressing up as a Burning Crusade era character in Shadowlands 9.1, on the other hand, is simple as many of these items are readily available on the auction house and there are plenty of players with gold to burn. With transmog competitions being more and more popular these days, prices of some old school items can rise tremendously at the start of a new patch. Just make sure you’re the one selling these items.
The last thing worth noting about old world content is that you can view it as a good way of farming raw gold if you don’t mind running old raids on multiple characters each week. Due to the changes that were introduced in Shadowlands a lot of the old Mythic raids from the Legion era were made too difficult to solo while everything before that was nerfed to the point where it was no longer worth farming. But as players will be able to get progressively more powerful in Shadowlands 9.1, it’s possible that some of the Mythic Legion raids will become solo-able again. Once they do, they’re bound to become a great gold-making method.
